I got the net and a majority of the shells and objects on the piece from a net that used to hang above my husband's bed in his childhood room at his mother's house. The shells, ball, and key were all inside the net when it hung from the ceiling. The glass ball is from Norway, my husband made the dream catcher in boy scouts, and I'm not quite sure where or what the key is to. The net was held up by an old rope and hook that is also in our bedroom (and can be seen in the Master Bedroom Tour) and when I went to try and decorate with them, they weren't the same as when we put them in the bag. I decided to cut the net and try to make something new out of it.
First, I cut it into a big triangle. I strung it through a wooden crafting rod from Michael's and secured it with craft wire. Once a top and bottom was distinguished I picked out the shells O could use and wanted, came up with a design and also secured those items with craft wire.
I put up two nails and hammered them in just enough to snugly fit the wooden rod.
